As a consumer looking for night vision in 2021 it may seem common-place for night vision retailers to offer "pre-orders" for night vision devices. However, if you take a step back and look at the actual situation, it's quite bizarre. Would you comfortably fork over over $4000 to wait "6-8 weeks" for a say, a high-end TV? Most people would simply find an alternate model or retailer elsewhere. However, this was not the landscape of night vision in Canada in 2021. In fact, the demand has been so incredibly high that we have not been able to keep up. While we're proud to say that all of our monocular devices are shipping next-day were shipping next day as-of two days ago, that situation may change as we enter 2022 as tube supply slows down.
As a retailer constantly wrangling with inventory management, fluctuating lead times, and inconsistent demand and lack of sales data to provide for accurate forecasting, we always do our best to balance consumer demands with availability and timing. The only way we have found to solve for this problem and guarantee that people who are ready and willing to step up into night vision (or upgrade from existing systems), is The Pre-Order. This tool provides a way to secure inventory from manufacturers, at the expense of the patience of consumers, and the pressure that we eventually put on ourselves to deliver within suggested timeframes.
So where are we going with this? If there is anything to say that's worth saying, it's that we're aware of the issue and its potential damage on our brand, and are constantly working to order more product, more frequently so that we can have in-stock devices. The social media posts don't matter fuck all if we can't get devices into user's hands and grow the community. We know this. One of our goals in 2022, from an inventory perspective, is to have all of our in-house-assembled night vision devices in-stock and ready-to-ship, guaranteeing the highest levels of customer satisfaction and getting critical devices into user's hands.
