The RPNVG (Ruggedized Panoramic Night Vision Goggle) is the first and only dedicated goggle able to pan each optical pod outwards to create a significantly wider functional Field of View (FOV) compared to traditional binoculars. Building upon the Panobridge concept, the benefits of additional FOV are multi-faceted: seeing more in the user's periphery increases situational awareness, and alleviating the need for the user to constantly turn their heads alleviates unnecessary neck strain.
While most NVG’s are built with molded polymer housings, the RPNVG features a 7075 aluminum chassis for unsurpassed rigidity and structural strength. All articulation points have been beefed up to increase impact resistance, giving users one tough goggle. The RPNVG uses a CR123A battery and the power and IR illuminators have been revised to push-button. Additional run times can be made available by using an off-board battery pack plugged into the RPNVG's integral LEMO battery port.
Featuring your choice of our tried and true Photonis Echo White Phosphor or Photonis Echo+ White Phosphor MX-10160 auto-gain image intensifier tubes, each RNVG is cleaned, assembled, purged, and tested in-house with precision tools using our digital purging rig, downdraft table, and clean room.
This build utilizes US Milspec Carson or Edmund optics for the highest levels of performance with no optical trade-offs such as reduced eyebox viewing window, excessive lens flaring, oddly-shaped flare artifacts, or distracting rings of light as seen on lightweight lens systems. The RPNVG eliminates exposed wires – something commonly found in ANVIS-style night vision goggles. As the optic pods traverse during interpupilary adjustment, they ride across an electrical contact strip. This provides much increased weather/element resistance and reduces a traditional failure point. IP adjustment is accomplished with by turning dual knobs on either side of the bridge; the same as any traditional ANVIS goggle.
Cold Harbour Supply assembles the RPNVG with true US milspec PVS-14 eyepieces and objective lenses (Edmund Optics or Carson Industries, depending on current stock levels) and Photonis Echo White Phosphor image intensifier tubes.
