"Why am I having to pay extra fees on my package?"
As of August 29, 2025, the United States White House removed Duty-Free De Minimis treatment for packages entering the United States.
Previous to August 29, 2025, packages valued at $800 or below were able to enter the United States without a formal customs declaration process. The removal of the "De minimis" treatment for these low-value shipments has meant that all packages entering the US will need to go through formal customs clearance with UPS, triggering customs brokerage fees. These fees are collected by UPS and remitted to the United States Customs and Border Protection.
In addition, the White House has enacted additional tariffs on imports from Canada on February 1, 2025
While some of our products are under CUSMA and tariff exempt, a formal customs clearance process will trigger customs fees and taxes.
We have done as much due diligence as we can on your package prior to shipping to ensure minimal or no duties are owed (including filing USMCA / CUSMA paperwork and the appropriate customs invoice), but beyond that, any duties or fees are solely subject to CBP ruling.
