AB Nightvision RVM-14 Night Vision Monocular
AB Nightvision RVM-14 Night Vision Monocular
The AB Night Vision RVM-14 Night Vision Monocular is a ruggedized monocular device built for the 21st century. Instead of a polymer housing like most night vision monoculars, the RVM-14 is billet machined from aircraft-grade 7075T6 aluminum for a lifetime of hard use. The housing accepts all standard PVS-14 lenses including US Milspec, RPO lightweight or Boomslang Wide FOV lenses. The RVM-14 is MIL-STD-810H drop-tested and waterproof to 66 feet.
The monocular accepts all standard PVS-14 mounting hardware for wide compatibility and also features a proprietary dovetail machined into the top of the housing. This dovetail accepts the RVM-14 bridge so users can bridge two RVM-14s together to form a binocular configuration.
Controls are simple - the simple rotary dial turns the device on at maximum brightness, and then dims MX-11769 manual gain image intensifiers as the knob is rotated further. An on-board IR illuminator is activated via a simple push-button on the front, similar to the RNVG-A. The IR illuminator switch is protected by a physical "fence" to prevent accidental activation and users can see if the IR illuminator is on via a red LED inside the device that's visible to the user.
Despite its rugged construction, the RVM-14 weighs 15% less than a typical PVS-14 but has a 50% longer battery life, using CR123A batteries.
