Mars Mini Thermal Defender

The Cold Harbour Enhanced Focusing Defender provides rugged, multi-impact protection for the 25mm OneLeaf Mars Mini lens. Building on the proven legacy of our Defender line, this design combines the durability of our multi-hit rated proprietary TPU armour with an easy to install slip fit for secure attachment. 

Made from the same temperature-stable, proprietary flexible TPU material as all of our thermal Defender line, the Mars Mini Thermal Defender is designed for reliable use in force-on-force and harsh environments without risk of damage to the host device. Unlike brittle Nylon-12-based protectors, this TPU construction remains resilient and impact-resistant across temperature extremes, while maintaining a low-signature, non-reflective finish.

Second-Generation Sacrificial Lens Retention

A custom TPU O-ring system replaces older tab-based lens retention designs, allowing for quick, secure, and user-serviceable swaps of sacrificial lens elements in the field. This ensures continued protection and optical clarity without the need for tools or permanent fixtures.

Design and Compatibility

The Defender installs directly over the factory objective lens shroud and is secured via three large locking flanges. The protector is also designed to be used with the included 25 flip lens cap already included with your OneLeaf Mars Mini

Available Protection Levels

Recognizing that mission needs vary, the Enhanced Focusing Defender is available in three distinct protection configurations:

Level 1 – Germanium Sacrificial Lens
Optical-grade, multi-coated Germanium lens optimized for the 8–14µm wavelength range. Absorbs up to a 0.2g BB at 350fps and withstands UTM and Simunition impacts at point-blank range with no penetration. Provides maximum optical performance with no perceivable signal degradation. Not multi-impact rated.

Level 2 – Titanium Honeycomb Shield
A custom-fabricated titanium honeycomb provides true multi-hit capability, tested up to 400fps with 0.2g BBs at point-blank range. The cell structure halts projectiles while maintaining thermal transparency (~10% reduction in thermal signal, with corresponding noise reduction). Some spalling may occur depending on ammunition type.

Level 3 – Germanium + Titanium Hybrid
Combining both the Germanium sacrificial lens and titanium honeycomb, this configuration offers the highest level of protection, balancing impact resistance and spall control. While this combination is multi-impact rated, due to the fragile nature of germanium and spalling, the durability of the germanium is not guaranteed.

Compatibilty: OneLeaf Mars Mini 25mm Lens ONLY. Not compatible with 19mm or telephoto lenses for the Mars MIni.

Due to the brittle nature of germanium, neither Cold Harbour Supply are liable for damage to the host device as a result of the failure of the user to replace the sacrificial lens as necessary after impacts when the structural integrity may be compromised.
