Rochester Precision Optics (RPO) PVS-14 Lens Set

The Rochester Precision Optics (RPO) 3.0 PVS-14 lens set improves upon previous versions by reducing flare artifacts and the surrounding halo effect around the periphery of the night vision image, while also providing a substantial weight savings. Reduction in weight in the lens system translates to a reduction to overall system weight, alleviating headborne weight and extending user comfort.

The RPO Lens Set offers weight savings over traditional PVS-14 optics as follows:

• Objective Lens: 35g (RPO) vs 53g (Noctis Technologies (formerly Carson Industries) US Milspec) - 33% weight reduction
• Eyepiece Lens: 35g (RPO) vs 59g (Noctis Technologies (formerly Carson Industries) US Milspec) - 40% weight reduction

On a binocular system, this translates to approximately 84g in weight savings. As a frame of reference, the DTNVS with standard milspec optics drops from 520g to 436g, or about the same weight as a set of L3 PVS-31A. Due to the unique lens geometry necessary to achieve the significant weight savings, and to reduce optical artifacts, the RPO 3.0 lenses are best used as a complete set.
