Following up on our IG Reels HERE, here's an addendum to that segment with screencaps to show higher clarity. Still images have a limitation of omitting noise flux but it does show more static image characteristics such as contrast, sharpness, etc. All images can be clicked to show the 4K high-res screen caps. First up is the classic Carson "teal" lens. Second is Edmund Optics. Last is current-production Carson. Lastly, here are some screen caps showing off-axis flare suppression. Pay attention to the light source inside the garage at 8 o'clock. Teal lens: Edmund Optics: New Carson: Observations (in no particular order):• Old Carsons maintain sharpness over a larger centre zone (pay attention to...

Once we understand what your priorities are, we will choose from our currently-available stock and provide you with the top three choices along with through-tube photos, and the full specifications for each unit, so you can choose accordingly. This can be an iterative process until we find the unit that you are most happy with.
We launched in April with a small batch of BNVD-1431 MK1 builds going primarily to pre-order customers who were eager for a binocular NV device for a decent price. All of these orders were filled and I'm pleased to say that all of our clients are happy with the systems they have received and are currently using. But what nobody saw were the number of issues, bad housings, countless shipments back and forth with the distributor, faulty housings being swapped for more faulty housings, and weeks of testing that were required to fill those orders. Here is a list of the issues we encountered with these housings:1) Some BNVD-1431s do not stay on and would randomly shut off or shut-off when...
2020/2021 seemed to be a year of the night vision renaissance. Following on the widespread sale of white phosphor tubes, these past two years seemed to carry news of new housings every few months. For a long while, the only commercially-available binocular night vision housings were bridged PVS-14s, Sentinel, Mod3 and surplus PVS-15s and most of those were all only available on the grey market. Nowadays, we're inundated with options including: ACT in Black DTNVS Nocturn Industries Katana Argus BNVD-1431 ACT in Black DTNVG (discontinued) BNVD-1531 * PVS-31A * PVS-31D (aka F5032) * AB Night Vision RNVG * AB Night Vision Mod3B * * denotes ITAR-restricted housings If you remove the ITAR-restricted housings, you'll notice that you actually aren't left...
Image intensifier technology from Photonis was developed outside of the U.S. and is based on an entirely different concept compared to U.S. made Gen 3 from Elbit Systems and L3. Photonis 4G often gets labeled as "Gen 2+" because it's fundamentally more similar to the multialkali photocathode technology from the US Gen 2 than it is the gallium arsenide (GaAs) tech developed for Gen 3. Thinking of it as "Gen 2+" probably isn't the best way to frame it up, and the term "Hybrid" that is often used in conjunction with Photonis 4G is probably better. It's a "hybrid" because it borrows some elements from different tube tech to create something pretty unique and high-performance in the market. While Photonis offers...
