RPO NVD-Next Lightweight Eyepiece Assembly

Rochester Precision Optics' latest lens offering and candidate for the US Army Night Vision Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) NVD-Next program. The 4th generation RPO NVD-Next eyepiece lens is the largest leap forward in standard night vision optics in recent memory.

Offering enhanced performance over existing Milspec lens offerings and drops eyepiece lens weight from 74g to 43g while enlarging the eyebox, increasing light transmission, and reducing optical distortion.

The NVD-Next lens is best paired with an RPO 3.0 objective as recommended by RPO, but can also be used with standard US Milspec objectives. 

The RPO NVD-Next Lens Set offers weight savings over traditional PVS-14 optics as follows:

• Objective Lens: 38g (RPO) vs 53g (Carson US Milspec) - 28% weight reduction
• Eyepiece Lens: 43g (RPO) vs 74g (Carson US Milspec) - 42% weight reduction

On a binocular system, this translates to a substantial ~92g weight reduction while maintaining a high-quality image.

Examples: Nighthawk drops from 605g to 513g; Katana Gen3 drops from 511g to a staggering 419g (for context: standard US Milspec PVS-14 with J-arm weighs over 330g)
